Church Away Day

Saturday 27 June 2026
10am—4.30pm
At Freshford Village Memorial Hall, Freshford Lane (just a 12 minute drive from St. Nick’s)

Morning activities:

There will be plenty of opportunity to chat over tea and coffee as we arrive and during the morning.
We will have some time of worship together and two short talks from Charlie Skrine.
We’ll learn more about members of St. Nick’s and our mission partners.
There will be activities for children and youth run by safeguarded leaders from another church in Bath.

A light lunch will be provided.

Afternoon activities:
Join in a range of different fun and games for all ages (some sporty, others leisurely) or just relax.
There is an extensive children’s playground on site.
Enjoy mid-afternoon tea and scones.
Final time of worship together before we leave at 4.30pm

It will be a joy to have Charlie Skrine speaking to us.  Charlie is the Rector of All Souls Langham Place in London (the church next to the BBC!).

Cost:
So that the day is accessible for everyone, there is no charge. However, on the day there will be an opportunity to donate towards the cost. £20 per adult will cover the costs (under 18s are free).  Some of us will be able to contribute more than £20, others less.

to and back Freshford:

During the morning we will have an activity where we discover unusual things about each other.  To assist in the planning, please could you write one unusual/interesting fact about each person attending (including children) in a maximum of ten words. For example “I have climbed Ben Nevis” or “I was born in Wales” or “I can roll my tongue” or “I was born in the Bath RUH” or “I have shaken hands with Prince William” or “I have visited more than 20 different countries”!  I’m sure you get the idea.  If you’re not sure, please speak to Ian Lewis who can help you think of ideas.  But please don’t tell anyone else.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

St Nicholas’ Bathampton is a church family to which all are welcome. We meet together to help us to get to know Jesus better, enjoy friendship with each other, and reach out in service to our community. We want to encourage each other to live radically transformed lives of faith and love.

You're very welcome to join us at any of our services. St Nicholas’ meets at the parish church by the canal bridge for our Sunday Service starting at 10:45am. Coffee is served after the service. Junior Church on Sunday is for school-aged children from 4-14 years old. We spend the first 15-20 minutes in church with the adults before going to our groups for about 40 minutes.

The church is open everyday from 10am to 3pm except Mondays and Saturdays for visitors to the Arthur Phillip display and for prayer. Please do contact our church administrator for a special visit on office@stnicholasbathampton.org.uk.

Please do take a look at our Visitor Information Leaflet.

Home Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have two groups that meet on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Check out Home Groups to find out more, or we can put you in touch with a home group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
