Getting Married

If you are planning to get married, then congratulations! We are always delighted to have couples coming to get married in our lovely church, but there are some legal requirements that have to be fulfilled before we can agree to a wedding. So please get in touch with the Benefice Office or come along to one of our Sunday services and introduce yourselves, and we will be happy to discuss your particular situation.

Baptism of infants (also called Christening)

A new baby is a wonderful and exciting privilege, and for many people asking for God's blessing on their child is an important aspect of parenthood. We have two different ways of asking for God's blessing. One is a Thanksgiving, which is a delightful service where we thank God for this new life. The other is a Baptism service, where parents and godparents make definite promises of Christian faith on behalf of the child. If you are a new parent, please contact the Benefice Office and we would be pleased to discuss with you which approach is most appropriate for you.

Although you will have a warm welcome at a Sunday service at St Mary's, between our two churches we aim to make the 10.30am service at St Nicholas Bathampton the one that is relaxed enough for people to bring young children to, and we have baby changing facilities in our toilets. We also have a Parent and Toddler group at St Nicholas Bathampton, Mini Club, which runs from 9.30am to 12noon in our Church Rooms on Wednesdays in term time, where you can meet others in a similar situation!

Funerals

If you are needing to plan a funeral, we will want to help you as we can in this difficult time with a service either in church or at the Crematorium. You can either contact the Benefice Office directly, but this is most often done on your behalf by the Funeral Directors that you have appointed.
